As Cactus Pediatric Orthopaedics approaches its 25th anniversary, I find myself reflecting on the families, children, and colleagues who have made this practice so special. Being part of your lives and caring for your children has been an extraordinary privilege.
As I prepare for retirement, I am excited to announce that Cactus Pediatric Orthopaedics will transition to the ownership and direction of Dr. Deric Nye on October 13, 2026. This next chapter will carry forward the personal, family-centered care that has defined CPO for nearly 25 years.
Welcoming Dr. Deric Nye
Dr. Nye is an East Valley native who brings extensive experience caring for children and their families. Both Dr. Nye and I trained at Shriners’ Hospital for Children in Portland, sharing a foundation in specialized children’s orthopaedic care.
His experience includes work at Valley Children’s Hospital in California and Banner Children’s here in Arizona. At CPO, he will provide surgical and nonsurgical treatment and expand the practice’s age range to include young adulthood.
I am pleased to entrust the practice’s future to a physician who will continue its tradition of compassionate care while helping it grow to meet our community’s needs.
The Familiar Team You Know and Trust
Continuity matters, especially when it comes to your child’s care.
Trent Tipton, PA-C, will remain with CPO as our lead Physician Assistant.
Families know Trent for his consistent expertise, kindness, and compassion, and he will continue to play an important role in the practice.
Our wonderful front and back office staff will also remain through the transition. Many have been with CPO for decades, helping families feel welcomed, supported, and understood. Their dedication has shaped this practice, and I am grateful that their familiar faces will be part of its future.
Nearly 25 Years of Caring for East Valley Families
CPO began as the first full-time children’s orthopaedic practice in the East Valley. As we approach our 25th anniversary, I am deeply thankful for the trust families and referring physicians have placed in us.
It has been a privilege to help children recover, return to the activities they love, and grow with confidence. Just as meaningful have been the relationships built along the way—with parents, grandparents, physicians, and the many people who support each child.
I will miss you all.
A New Chapter, with the Same Personal Approach
CPO will remain a small but mighty alternative to large hospital-based clinics—a place where you know your providers and staff, and where your family receives personal attention.
Under Dr. Nye’s leadership, the practice will continue its commitment to excellent, efficient, and empathetic care. As I step into retirement, I look forward to seeing CPO’s tradition continue for the next generation of families.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives and for making these past 25 years so meaningful.
I wish you all health and happiness.
Best regards,
Gregory M. Hrasky, MD
